A Principle to Live By

A principle is a moral rule or belief that helps you know what is right and wrong and that influences your actions  Principles represent a set of values that orient and rule the conduct of a concrete society. The law establishes an obligation in the individual's conscience that belongs to the cultural field in which such values are accepted.
We all at some point in time have had principles instilled in us. One principle that has stuck with me is not always expecting or doing things with the intention of receiving reward or acknowledgment. When I was in elementary school I was a straight A student but I was never rewarded for having As. I always thought it was unfair that all my other friends got money and gifts when report cards came out but my parents told me that you shouldn't be rewarded for what is expected of you. From that point on I didn't try to get all As with the intent of receiving some award but I did it for myself. A lot of people aren't acknowledged for the things they do but a lot of people don't realize that being recognized all the time just isn't realistic. But if you are recognized for something you do, you should be grateful.
